- Conscious Relationship -
Intimacy, joy and healthy psychological relationships blossom from an open, honest and fearless heart and body. If we are open and spacious within, we bring a spacious, loving presence to our relationships. If we have not cultivated our primary relationship with the Heart/Soul, our external relationships will reflect the attachment, grasping, control and fear of loss which arises directly from this lack of cultivation. Conscious relationship and sexuality must be cultivated both internally and externally, since in truth, these are the same one reality and mirror reflection. Through practice, we learn to open our humanness, our personality, to receive a continual infusion of the qualities of the Heart/Soul, and we practice sharing these wonderful qualities of the Heart with others. This is the cultivation, continuum and inseparability of the Heart's Intimacy. When we open ourselves, access and cultivate the qualities of the Heart, empathy, sensitivity, care and compassion in relationship are natural and effortless expressions. With access to the Heart, making love with one's partner, or loving the entire world in ways of selfless humanitarian service are natural expressions of the inseparable continuum of Intimacy. When our primary relationship with the Heart/Soul is obscured by unresolved emotional issues and unconscious misperceptions, then harmonious relationship and intimacy will remain a mystery. Presently, there is great interest in conscious sexuality; sometimes referred to as tantra. Let's be very clear in our understanding. The tantric scriptures the Hindu and Buddhist traditions represent knowledge dating back thousands of years. These texts are considered precious treasures of esoteric wisdom. As vast and varied as these tantric scriptures appear, they all have one characteristic in common—an integrative approach to our psycho-spiritual evolution, with the objective of making the best use of all available resources within and without. In light of this, the essential meaning of the word tantra stands revealed as weaving, continuum, unification. Ultimately, the true tantric teachings lead us into the union of the Masculine and Feminine aspects within ourselves. This could also be referred to as the harmonious integration of the Personality and Soul (Female/Earth/Yin/Personality in union with the Masculine/Heaven/Yang/Soul).
